As Director Computational Biology Infectious Diseases you will plan and coordinate genetics and computational projects to determine how genes and protein molecules interact and influence biological pathways, networks and physiology. You will also perform biological discovery and development research within a significant therapeutic area or sub-specialty (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology). This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
Contribute scientific expertise and design to multiple drug discovery or development efforts within and outside own discipline Act as a competent and recognized expert in critiquing the scientific validity of research/development initiatives Contribute scientific rationale for the development of long-term strategy for therapeutic area across Research and Development Identify and lead new scientific opportunities on new technical directions outside of primary discipline Serve as a recognized leader in driving technological foresight within specific scientific function or directing content of programs Perform as a recognized intellectual leader for successful efforts in the areas of scientific innovation and process improvement Act as a leader for successful efforts in the areas of scientific innovation and process improvement Lead and influence the outcome of multidisciplinary meetings Contribute to projects and programs as an Expert Peer Reviewer Represent GSK on cross-industry teams on initiatives Maintain an extensive network of specialists within and outside GSK Apply networking skills and stakeholder management with external key opinion leaders in specific therapeutic areas or scientific disciplines Effectively communicate findings to appropriate senior GSK internal groups Utilize your track record of effecting substantial change by applying knowledge of multiple disciplines and therapeutic areas that impact discovery/ development policy, processes or guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry Provide expertise in integration of preclinical development disciplines and commercial strategy into a full-scale product development activity Apply scientific skills to influence experimental design and data interpretation that impacts across drug discovery/development Define and execute a coordinated and highly influential scientific strategy Accountable for decisions affecting major product development activities or business directives and their implementation and for recommending allocation of resources with key matrix partners Why you? Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Masters, PhD, or equivalent practical work experience in relevant discipline 5
years of experience working with infectious disease Supervisory experience or experience leading teams Preferred
Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

years experience in infectious diseases Demonstrated experience to deliver high quality and state of the art computational biology solutions and analyses in support of drug discovery projects Experience in using genetics and genomics data in a drug discovery context Experience to lead line teams and/or project teams
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Life SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
